Community ServiceMeridian community provides support to the needy in times of disasters and calamities so as to enable them to recoup. Meridianites have given generously when Gujrat was shattered in the aftermath of the Latur earthquakes and the tsunami which engulfed the southern coast of India. After the unprecedented floods in Andhra Pradesh, the school raised Rs. 8.6 lakhs to help those affected. More than the money raised, it was the careful and personal distribution by the students, the staff and the Principal herself who went to the remote villages of Kurnool to distribute moneyand essential items was an ennobling experience, which taught the students to sympathise with those in need and the joy of giving. Other than the major calamities, regular interaction with the visually challenged and adopting the 'Buddy programme' to make friends with those from a different social background reinforce social responsibilities. |
